Edited by the Baptist minister Isaac Kimber (1692-1755) 'The London Magazine', founded in 1732, was established as a rival to the Tory based 'Gentleman's Magazine'. It contained essays, literature, the proceedings of the Political Club, as well as a monthly chronologer that included both domestic and foreign affairs, births deaths & marriages, lists of books published etc.
