Hardcover, 8vo 8" - 9" tall, 600pp. Quarter calf over marbled boards, boards a bit rubbed, edges of boards rubbed, corners bumped/rubbed, title page for each month, May (pp.185-233) with loss to upper corner affecting text, October with damp affecting upper corner with small loss of text to a few pages, illustrated with 13 engraved plates (some folding) including 5 maps by Thomas Kitchin (4 English counties & map of Nova Scotia, view of the Ratcliffe Library, Blenheim Palace etc.

The 'Gentleman's and London Magazine' contained domestic and foreign news, births deaths & marriages, poetry, lists of books published etc. Some of the engravings in this issue relate to contemporary events: There is a map of Belle Ile and of the islands principal citadel, Le Palais. Belle Ile which lies off the south west coast of Brittany, was captured by the British in 1761 during the Seven Years War. Other engravings include portraits of prominent men (the engraving of Joseph Addision is not present), a map of Upper Saxony, a folding engraving of the Coronation Procession and a view of the inside of Westminster Abbey showing the coronation.
