The Muggletonians were a protestant Christian sect which began in 1651 and which is named after one of its founders, Lodowicke Muggleton. Muggleton, together with the other founder member, John Reeve, claimed to be the last prophets foretold in the Book of Revelations. The Muggletonians avoided all forms of worship or preaching and unlike many other Christian movements were resolutely opposed to evangelism. They were hostile to philosophical reasoning and maintained a scriptural understanding of the world. The survived into the 20th century with its final member dying in 1979.
