Henry Hellier was rector of Nempnett Thrubwell from 1886 until his death in 1892. He is known to have studied at the Wesleyan Theological Institution, Didsbury from 1846 until 1848 and this book appears to have been started at the same time that he began his studies there. The book itself has been passed down within the family, some of whom still live in the Somerset village of Nempnett Thrubwell.
