Head studies of a first year female Sparrowhawk by Alistair Proud, watercolour signed and titled by the artist, measuring approx. 210mm by 270mm, mounted, framed and glazed (frame measures 490mm by 430mm).

Alistair Proud is both an artist and a naturalist, with a special interest in birds of prey and game birds. Educated in Dublin he moved to Wales to attend art college and while there he submitted work and was accepted for ‘The Society of Wildlife Artists’ annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.He has exhibited at the Society's annual exhibition every year since and was elected as a full member in 1986. His work can be found in numerous collections across the world and has also been used to illustrate a number of books. A keen ornithologist, he lives in South West Wales, where he frequents the cliffs in search of peregrines and other wildlife of interest.
